SUBJECT: Sandburg PTO: Staffing Decisions for 25/26 & DI Teams Heading to State!

Sandburg Families,

Spring is just around the corner, regardless of the Colorado weather ups and downs, and we hope you can enjoy the upcoming spring activities!

We invite all Sandburg parents to join us Tuesday, March 11th for the joint PTO & CSSAC meeting.  Important staffing, budgeting and more decisions await.

Parent-teacher conferences this week, which means no school Thursday or Friday!  The kids have a short week, but please remember the teachers have a long week, so be respectful of your appointment times!

The Sweetheart Dance would love your help! March 14th, this sweet event is a great time for parent-children to have a special night out, and you can make a difference by assisting in the set-up or clean-up. We will provide cheese pizza slices, hot dogs, and popcorn w/ candy mixers.  And don't forget to get your tickets for the dance!

We are incredibly proud to share that our Destination Imagination teams have achieved remarkable success and will be heading to the state competition! Their hard work, creativity, and teamwork have truly paid off. We wish them the best of luck as they showcase their talents on a larger stage.

STEAM Fair, April 22nd - but please register by April 4th!  Showcase creativity and curiosity in this open-house style event.

Our next Out & About is at Little George's Mexican Tuesday, March 18th, quickly followed by the popular Kona Ice on Thursday the 20th.

Congratulations!

We are thrilled to share some exciting news about our students from Sandburg who participated in Destination Imagination this past Saturday! They competed at Cimarron Middle School in Parker all day yesterday. All three of our teams have qualified for the State Tournament, which will take place at the Auraria Campus in Downtown Denver on April 5th.

Since early September, these students have been working on both Instant Challenges and Team Challenges, demonstrating incredible passion, creativity, and teamwork. Their dedication has truly shined through, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.

Please join me in celebrating, congratulating and giving a big shout out to these students on their hard work and success. We look forward to cheering them on as they represent our school at the state level! This is HUGE for Sandburg as this is the first year for us to take on Destination Imagination. WAY TO GO THIRD, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE TEAMS - Third Grade Rollers, Team Beep and Team No Name (Respectively)!

And thanks to PTO for bringing this exciting enrichment and opportunity to Sandburg!

Special recognition to Ms. Laurie Woulfe - the true leader of DI. She is an absolute gem for all the help, time, love and support she has given to the team mangers and students. We would’ve been lost without her. Thank you Ms. Woulfe!

StoryWalk at Sandburg!

We invite family, friends, and our school community to enjoy reading, walking around our school, and being outdoors to enjoy Strega Nona by Tommie DePaola this month.  Come again after Spring Break for The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.  StoryWalk promotes early literacy, physical activity, and family time together outdoors.  Families take a stroll and enjoy successive pages from a children’s story along the path!

Playground Pals needs YOU!

The easiest, low-commitment way to help out at Sandburg!  A quick 1hr and 15min block to see and hear the fun happening at school.  This program is designed for parents to help the school staff promote an inclusive, safe and fun environment during lunch recess.  It's a great way to add a fun surprise to your child's day - Volunteer!

Update Our Sign!

We need help updating the school sign out front. This is a great way to contribute to our school community and ensure that our sign reflects the wonderful events and achievements happening here. If you’re interested, simply choose a date that works for you, and the front desk will provide all you need!
