SUBJECT: Sandburg PTO: Please Opt-In! + Run4Funds Launch

Good Morning Sandburg!

We hope these newsletters are a helpful source of information for all Sandburg Families, but this year, the PTO's ability to communicate with families from Room Parents was changed.  We can no longer pull reports for our room parents to connect by classroom and thus we need your help!  Please sign up for Membership Toolkit and complete the Room Parent Communication Opt-in.  We try to reduce administrative work for teachers by keeping you in the loop so they can focus on teaching our amazing students.  It takes a moment, and then your family can be informed about all the fun activities ahead.

Communication Opt-In

Join the PTO & CSSAC Boards at Max Taps, Thursday, Sept. 25th to meet the board, ask questions, offer new ideas, or find a way to volunteer!  All Sandburg supporters welcome.

Friday, we welcome our Run4Funds launch at the school assembly.  Save the date for our scheduled run on Friday, October 3rd, and sign-up to volunteer here!

Want to know more about the impact of technology, social media, and screens on children?  Anxious GenerationSandburg community discussion opportunity details below.  Simply fill-out the interest form and more information will be provided.

Anxious Generation: Book Talk

If you’re feeling concerned about the impact of phones, screens, and social media on today’s kids or are simply wanting to learn more about research-based “best practices” for phones and screen time, Jonathan Haidt’s The Anxious Generationis a great starting point. The book takes a comprehensive look into the most up-to-date research and the impact of replacing “play-based childhoods” with “phone-based childhoods” and, ultimately, what parents and schools can do about it. Interested in reading and discussing the book alongside other Sandburg families? Fill out this interest form and stay tuned for more information.

Executive Functioning by LPS

Parents and staff, you’re invited to a FREE workshop that will leave you with useful tools to help students build focus, routines, time management, and organization to help fuel their own success.

Whether you’ve heard of “executive functioning” or not, this session hosted by Brandon Slade, founder of Untapped Learning, will break it down in simple, practical ways. Walk away with strategies you can start using right away!
