SUBJECT: Sandburg Fall Break and Holiday Giving Campaign

Happy Thanksgiving and Fall Break!

We hope this week brings love and joy to your family.

We are so incredibly grateful for our amazing Sandburg community. This school is what it is because of all of you, and we're so thankful for the ways you support and uplift our school every day.

Just a couple of quick updates to share with you this week.

First, we're excited to kickoff the 2025 Sandburg Family Holiday Giving Campaign. This annual effort supports Sandburg families who may need a little extra help this season. If you're able, please consider contributing. Every donation truly makes a difference. More details on how to sign up are below.

Second, thank you to everyone who joined us at the Streets of Southglenn Parade!  Please don't forget to upload your pictures by 11/30 for Sandburg to earn extra points.

Next, checkout the amazing gains our Sandburg staff is making in Math with our students through Pawlooza.  Last, update your calendars with the date change for Prom Part Deux.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on December 1st. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sandburg Family Holiday Giving Campaign

As you start thinking about holiday gifting, we’d love for you to consider supporting the 2025 Sandburg Holiday Giving Campaign.

Our goal is to support Sandburg families who may need a little additional assistance this season. Your generosity helps make the holidays feel special for all of our families, and we are so grateful for any support you’re able to give.

Please see the attached SignUpGenius for all the details, or email sandburgpto@gmail.com with any questions.

How the Holiday Giving Campaign Works:

Sign up for the Holiday Giving Campaign via the link above. All items should be new and unwrapped.

  • There will be a locked PTO "Drop Box" at school for all Gift Card Donations.

  • Please bring all donated items to the Front Office.

  • Student Council will assist each day by collecting and bringing items to the collaborative collection area at the school.  When you drop your items, please designate the Family Letter and child that it is for - for example, "Family A, Child 1 - LEGO Set."

  • Please have all gifts to the front office by Friday, December 12th.

Sandburg Pride at the Holiday Parade

A big thank you to all who participated in the Grand Holiday Parade at Southglenn! Sandburg was represented by Sandy, a selection of 5th graders, and several Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts within our community! We had a great turnout and were cheered on by a number of Sandburg families. What a fun way to kick off the holiday season!

Please upload a photo here to log your attendance at the event by the end of day Sunday, 11/30. Sandburg will receive 1,000 points per person who attended. (Note: these photos are not shared anywhere; they are simply used as proof of attendance).

Thank you again for making the evening festive!  Don't forget about our grade-level contest to win an extra recess!  Keep submitting the receipts here, and then simply email a quick picture of your receipts to: sandburgreceipts@gmail.com
Include your child’s teacher’s name in the email for the grade competition.

All receipts help Sandburg earn fundraising dollars PLUS the winning grade gets a Bonus Recess in January!

Pawlooza: Collaborative Specials Activities

During the day, students participated in one of two main activities. In the art room, they tackled a set of challenging riddles, encouraging creative problem-solving and persistence. Meanwhile, in the gym, students learned a line-dance, fostering cooperation and collective achievement as they worked together to master new steps.

Academic Leadership and Math Advancement

While students were immersed in these enriching experiences, the administration pursued a parallel goal focused on academic growth, particularly in mathematics. Principal Sieck and Assistant Principal Spencer utilized this time to convene with all grade-level teachers, collaboratively addressing strategies to enhance math education. Their discussions included methods for implementing more personalized lesson plans and refining breakout group structures to better meet students' needs.

Positive Outcomes

Most importantly, the outcomes have demonstrated the effectiveness of these efforts. The combination of collaborative activities and targeted academic planning has contributed to measurable success, reinforcing the value of holistic enrichment and focused leadership within our school community.

Teacher Appreciation

Our latest teacher appreciation event was a hit!

Our amazing Sandburg teachers spent the afternoon at Upstairs Circus, getting creative, trying new projects, and enjoying some well-deserved fun. It was wonderful to see them relax, laugh, and show off their artistic talents.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so special.
