Seasons Greetings Sandburg!

The Sandburg Holiday Giving Campaign is in full swing!  Thank you to everyone who has already made a contribution and/or donation. It is so appreciated and makes a BIG difference for many! We still have a number of opportunities to help.  Please keep an eye on the list, or if more convenient, make a financial donation via Cheddar-Up, and our designated shoppers will purchase the remaining items and grocery gift cards.  Click here to review the sign-up.  All new, unwrapped gifts are due to the front office by Friday, Dec. 12th.

There will be no PTO meeting this month with the holidays, but we look forward to seeing you on January 13th for the first meeting of the new year. 

Lost & Found will be donated Friday, Dec. 18th.  Please look by the gym and locate any missing items before they are gone!

January 12th - 20th Sandburg will offer Hearing and Vision screening for grades K-5.  Students are screened in small groups to reduce interruptions to classes, but we need volunteers to escort them to and from class and the screening truck.  Please consider signing up.  All volunteers must be background checked.

Last week, we did a soft-launch of the Sandburg Family Holiday Giving Campaign.  We are grateful to those who have already committed to help with items in need, but there are still numerous opportunities to show your Holiday Spirit!  These Sandburg families need some additional assistance this holiday season.  Your contributuions and donations are so appreciated and make a BIG difference for many!

How the Holiday Giving Campaign Works:

Families are welcome to sign up to donate for the Holiday Giving Campaign via the SignUp Genius.  All items should be new and unwrapped.

• There is a locked PTO "Drop Box" at school for all Gift Card Donations to the left of the main entry doors.  If you drop your item in the Lock Box, please designate which family it is for - Family A, B, C, etc.
• Please bring all donated items to the Front Office and the office staff will direct where to place them.
• Student Council will assist each day by collecting and bringing items to the collaborative collection area at the school.  When you drop off your items, please designate the Family Letter and Child that it is for - for example, "Family A, Child 1 - Lego Set."
• Please have all gifts to the front office by Friday, December 12th.

Sandburg needs volunteers to escort students in grades K-5 to the vision and hearing screening the week of January 12th - 16th and on Monday, January 20th, 2025.

Volunteer Duties:

• Volunteers will escort 3 students from a classroom to the screening truck.  The volunteer will immediately return to the classroom and get 3 more students, and bring them to the screening truck.  

• The volunteer will wait with the 3 students outside of the screening truck for the students on the screening truck to complete their testing.  Once they’ve finished testing, the students will exit the screening truck, and the volunteer will walk those 3 students back to class and get 3 more students while the next 3 students are being tested.  

• This cycle will be repeated for each class.  We use this procedure so the students miss the least amount of instructional time possible. 

Volunteers should complete their background check in advance here and check in at the front desk when they arrive. Thank you!
