SUBJECT: Sandburg PTO: Thank You for your Holiday Spirit!

Thank You Sandburg!

We have had a heartwarming and generous response to the Sandburg Holiday Giving Campaign - Thank You Sandburg.  Just a quick reminder, all gifts are due this Friday, Dec. 12th.  We are grateful for your support and consideration of this incredible program!

The Staff Holiday Giving is up and running, but gifts are due by next Wednesday, Dec. 17th! If you would like to show your appreciation this holiday season for Sandburg staff outside your student's classroom, please use the CheddarUp link here or the PTO drop box at the school front entrance.  Please keep in mind this is entirely optional, and you are welcome to show your thanks as you see fit.

If you have not heard from your room parent about in-class gifting, please reach out to our Room Parent Coordinator via email.

Check below for Spirit Weeks fun now through Dec. 20th!

Reminder, there will be no PTO meeting this month with the holidays, but we look forward to seeing you on January 13th for the first meeting of the new year.

Lost & Found will be donated on Friday, Dec. 18th.  Please look soon in the front vestibule and locate any missing items before they are gone!

January 12th - 20th Sandburg will offer Hearing and Vision screening for grades K-5.  Students are screened in small groups to reduce interruptions to classes, but we need volunteers to escort them to and from class and the screening truck.  Please consider signing up.  All volunteers must be background checked.

In the spring, Sandburg will once again offer the Book Swap.  So if you are clearing those bookshelves for new reading materials over the break, don't forget to keep some books on hand to trade in!

Hearing & Vision Screening

Sandburg needs volunteers to escort students in grades K-5 to the vision and hearing screening the week of January 12th - 16th and on Monday, January 20th, 2025.

Volunteer Duties:

  • Volunteers will escort 3 students from a classroom to the screening truck.  The volunteer will immediately return to the classroom and get 3 more students, and bring them to the screening truck.

  • The volunteer will wait with the 3 students outside of the screening truck for the students on the screening truck to complete their testing.  Once they’ve finished testing, the students will exit the screening truck, and the volunteer will walk those 3 students back to class and get 3 more students while the next 3 students are being tested.

  • This cycle will be repeated for each class.  We use this procedure so the students miss the least amount of instructional time possible.

Volunteers should complete their background check in advance here and check in at the front desk when they arrive. Thank you!
