SUBJECT: Sandburg PTO: Spring Updates

Sandburg families,

A big thank you to everyone who came out to Skate City and to our GLOW event.

The spring social was so much fun. A HUGE thank you to Nikki Swafford who has done so much for Sandburg this year, and to all our other volunteers who helped make this fun night possible.

The Book Swap is coming back to Sandburg.  Bring any unwanted age appropriate books in good condition and earn credits towards "new-to-you" books! Books will be due by Monday, April 27th.  Learn more below.

We also have a few "FUNdraisers" on the horizon, so look into supporting us today with Kona Ice or Chook.  Don't forget those Southglenn receipts, and LHS and Newton have opportunities too!

Sandburg's GLOW party was a success!

Students and family members wrapped around the building to get in for an amazing night full of glow in the dark fun! The gym was equipped with black lights, a neon dance floor and a very popular balloon bubble house, while the hallways were lined with light up putt putt golf opportunities. The cafeteria was packed with snacks and a line of students anxious to have their picture taken and created into any image they could imagine drawn by a robot!

The kids loved seeing their school in a way they never imagined, after dark and GLOW-ing! Thank you to everyone that joined for spending your Friday night with us.

And a HUGE THANK YOU to the following volunteers, and our Principal, Lindsey Sieck, who helped to make the night such a success:

  • Lindsey Blankenship
  • Monica Dosen
  • Andrea Fitch
  • Kelley Reppe
  • Kate Ryan
  • Erika Smith
Annual Book Swap

Book Swap is Back!  Just like last year, students will be able to "trade in" outgrown or unwanted books for "fresh" reading material for the summer. The PTO has funded additional popular books to supplement the collected volumes.

Drop off books in good condition in Black & Yellow bins by the front office by Monday, April 27th—labeled with student name, grade, and teacher (preferably bagged). Easy Readers count as 1/2 credit; board/free books won't earn credits but will be donated if unclaimed. All other books = 1 credit.

Book shopping will take place the week of May 4th. Donations are encouraged; extra credits can be gifted to teachers or students needing support. For questions, contact sandburgptocomms@gmail.com.

Unselected books will go to Children’s Hospital.

May Door Decorating

If you’re looking for a simple, low-cost way to show our teachers some love, consider signing up to decorate a classroom door.

This Sandburg tradition takes place during National Teacher Appreciation Week (the first week of May) and is a fun, meaningful way to brighten our teachers’ days and support our amazing staff.

Gather a few friends or work with your child to create something special. Every door makes a difference.

Back-To-School Supplies

School supply kits for next year are now available to order. This is an easy way to have everything your student needs delivered and ready for the first day of school.

Orders are open now through July 1. Be sure to place your order by the deadline to take advantage of this option.

FREE Paint Recycling

Littleton HS PTO is helping organize a big paint recycling event at LHS on April 18th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM and wanted to share the link since it usually fills up fast.

It’s totally free for households—you just drive up, and the team unloads your old cans of latex and oil-based paint for you. It’s a great way to finally clear out those stacks of cans in the garage while making sure the chemicals don't end up in our local water or landfills.

LHS students and parents will be there helping out! Feel free to check out the website with any questions about what they take (most paint is fine, but no spray paint or pesticides!).

Details & Sign up here.
