SUBJECT: Sandburg PTO: We Need You!

Sandburg Community - We Need YOU!

As we wrap-up the school year, we have several fun and meaningful volunteer opportunities - and we'd love your help!

The Jungle Ropes are back in the gym!  This quick and enjoyable VOLUNTEER opportunity lets you see students in action as they take on a horizontal climb across the gym.  No technical experience is required, you'll simply assist students and help stabilize the net.

Can't volunteer during the school day?  Door decorating is a great alternative.  Choose a staff dooryou'd like to decorate, create a theme (or find inspiration on Pinterest), and decorate at your own pace.  It's a fun activity to do with your student at home.  Decorations can be dropped off for installation by another volunteer by Friday, May 1st in the front office or build on-site Sunday, May 3rd. SIGN-UP NOW!

The Sandburg Book Swap is returning!  Bring gently used, age-appropriate books and earn credits toward "new-to-you" books! Books will be due by Monday, April 27th.  More details available below.

Last, but far from least, please join us TONIGHT for the PTO Meeting in the Sandburg Library at 6pm.  We will be discussing the financial gift to Sandburg to support staffing and the 2026/2027 school year.

Thank you for supporting our students and staff - we truly couldn't do it without you!

Doors Galore!

National Teacher Appreciation Week begins May 4th. Reserve your spot to celebrate your favorite teacher or simply enjoy crafting. Check out past examples for inspiration or create something new to honor our staff's contributions this school year.

This can easily be done at home, and if you can't make the decorating party Sunday, May 3rd at school, just bring the door ready to hang to the office by Friday, May 1st!

Annual Book Swap

Book Swap is Back!  Just like last year, students will be able to "trade in" outgrown or unwanted books for "fresh" reading material for the summer. The PTO has funded additional popular books to supplement the collected volumes.

Drop off books in good condition in Black & Yellow bins by the front office by Monday, April 27th—labeled with student name, grade, and teacher (preferably bagged). Easy Readers count as 1/2 credit; board/free books won't earn credits but will be donated if unclaimed. All other books = 1 credit.

Book shopping will take place the week of May 4th. Donations are encouraged; extra credits can be gifted to teachers or students needing support. For questions, contact sandburgptocomms@gmail.com.

Unselected books will go to Children’s Hospital.

Back-To-School Supplies

School supply kits for next year are now available to order. This is an easy way to have everything your student needs delivered and ready for the first day of school.

Orders are open now through July 1. Be sure to place your order by the deadline to take advantage of this option.

Streets of Southglenn

Street Smarts - Final 6 Weeks to Shop Local + Support Sandburg!

Thank you all for your support of Sandburg by submitting receipts from purchases at the Streets at Southglenn!

Right now, Sandburg is in 2nd place in the Street Smarts program and we are so close to taking the #1 spot, which would earn $2,500 for Sandburg!

Currently, Gudy Gaskill Elementary is ahead by only 25,000 points — but we can absolutely close the gap with your participation.

NEW: Bonus Points (5X Points) at select stores (see the graphic below for participating retailers thru 4/30!) That means we earn 25 points for every $1 in receipts submitted.

How to participate:
Shop or dine at The Streets at SouthGlenn
Take a photo of your receipt
Submit it at shopandlog.com/southglenn

 Receipts from Aug 1, 2025 – Apr 30, 2026 count.

Pro Tip: Bookmark the submission site or save it to your phone’s home screen.

Other ways to submit:
• Drop receipts in the Street Smarts box in the front office
• Email a photo of each receipt to sandburgreceipts@gmail.com

Let’s make a final push and take the #1 spot for Sandburg!

FREE Paint Recycling

Littleton HS PTO is helping organize a big paint recycling event at LHS on April 18th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM and wanted to share the link since it usually fills up fast.

It’s totally free for households—you just drive up, and the team unloads your old cans of latex and oil-based paint for you. It’s a great way to finally clear out those stacks of cans in the garage while making sure the chemicals don't end up in our local water or landfills.

LHS students and parents will be there helping out! Feel free to check out the website with any questions about what they take (most paint is fine, but no spray paint or pesticides!).
