Good morning! My name is Liz Glenn, and I am your PTO President for the 2023-2024 school year. If you have a child at Sandburg, you are already a member of our fun and dedicated organization and we are so grateful for each and every one of you! 

This year is sure to bring lots of fun, laughter and most of all support to the school.  Between the fundraisers like Run4Funds (coming up in September!) and our amazing social events, there is something for each student, teacher and parent to enjoy - all with the goal of supporting and enriching the educational growth of our students!

Our first PTO meeting of the year will be Thursday, August 24, from 6-8 p.m. in the Sandburg Library. Moving forward, monthly meetings will be held on the third Thursday of the month. I hope you all will attend these monthly meetings.  They are a great opportunity to learn about upcoming events, fundraising, and volunteering. They also offer you a chance to learn about and join a committee and improve the experience of our students.  

I want to personally welcome everyone to attend these monthly meetings and see if there is a position or committee or event that you would like to help with. Or if you just want to come and see what it is all about, that is wonderful and we hope that you can come! 

Together, we can continue to enrich Sandburg and bring the school and home closer through our commitment to the students and staff of this wonderful school.

Our school would not be the wonderful place it is without YOU. Your time and talents are valuable assets – each of them enhances and enriches our school. Whether you have the time to chair a committee, or just an hour or two here and there to help out, your contribution makes a difference! 

Open PTO Positions:

• Social Media Chair: Post weekly reminders on Sandburg's Instagram and Facebook accounts. Knowledge of Canva (create graphics) and Hootsuite (for posting) is helpful.
• Out and About Coordinator: Plan monthly Out & About events with local restaurants.
• Apprentice Positions: Shadow the current PTO board/committee chair with the expectation that you will take over the position next year.

Sandburg Library:

• Books! Books! Everywhere books! Volunteers help the Librarian by checking in books and organizing the library. All training is provided with no library experience necessary. The library is a great place to volunteer with your child's class! Volunteer once a week or once a month. Contact Marisa at marisa.mitchell@gmail.com for more information on what's involved and upcoming training dates.

• Sept. 12 | Rocket Launch, 6:00pm at deKovended Park (behind Goodson Rec. Center). Bring an assembled rocket and engines if you have one. Rockets kits are available at Hobby Lobby. We will provide pizza!
