SUBJECT: Happy Wednesday Sandburg!

Hello Sandburg Families,

We are looking forward to celebrating some of the prizes our school won with our Run4Funds fundraiser today. Qualifying classes will cheer on their pigs, by grade level, for the pig races. Students will also enjoy a Flash pod (modern day wack-a-mole) and Dippin’ Dots at their lunch recess.

Please note that we will be serving (2) kinds of Dippin’ Dots this year - Rainbow Ice and Cookies and Cream. If your child has any allergies please call the school so we can set aside the appropriate allergy friendly packet for them!

The ingredients for both kinds of Dippin’ Dots can be found here:

For those that attended Spooky Streets last week, don't forget to upload a photo of your kids/family at the event! Sandburg will earn 1,000 points for every person in your photo. These points add up quickly and help us GREATLY in our effort to win the Street Smarts Program! https://shopandlog.wufoo.com/forms/street-smarts-events/

Don't forget to order your Krispy Kreme doughnuts! There are only 7 more days remaining for this fundraiser. Place your order at grouprai.se/krispykreme13528sa, then visit your local Krispy Kreme to pick them up. 50% of each order is donated back to Sandburg!

Make sure to keep reading for info on the upcoming Halloween festivities, the Scholastic Book Fair and MORE!!

Thank You to our Candidates!

Last night, Sandburg was honored to host a forum with all four candidates running for the LPS Board of Education. It was a very informative evening, and we greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to be there. The candidates answered a variety of questions from what they believed to be the strength/weaknesses of our district, their priorities should they be elected, their background and experience, and so much more.

If you missed the event, but would like to learn more about these candidate, please check out this recorded candidate forum from October 4th.

There are 2 open seats that our county will be voting to fill in the November 7th election and making knowledgeable voting decisions is imperative to ensuring that our district is run with the utmost integrity and credibility.

In order for a chance to win one of the $1,000 prizes, we need YOUR help!! We are looking to get 100+ participants from Sandburg registered for the STRIDE. We are currently tied with Runyon Elementary at 76.

This is an amazing family event and you will not regret signing up! Sandburg has been fortunate to have won this prize for several years, and with this money Mr Rowe has been able to purchase new PE and recess equipment for the students to enjoy.

***All registrations MUST be completed online by Friday, October 27th to count toward any of the school contests. ‘Day of’ registrations will NOT be counted toward the school challenge. ***

Stride Virtually!

If you are unable to attend Sunday's event in-person, consider signing up to run virtually. With the Virtual Stride option, you can make a difference for students no matter where you are. Virtual participants will also count toward Sandburg's total.

Get Ready for Spooky Fun!

Halloween is almost here! Festivities will be in the morning on Tuesday, October 31. Students should come to school in costume (wearing their costume OVER their clothes) and check-in with their teacher/room as usual.

Halloween Parade | 8:10 - 8:30 a.m.

Class Parties | 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Costume Parade: Pending weather, the parade will take place on the South Playground right after announcements. Parents are welcome to attend and watch!

A reminder about costumes:

  • Nothing scary, gory, bloody, or frightening
  • Masks ARE allowed for the parade and parties; however, they MAY NOT be scary and/or gruesome and students must be able to see well enough to walk during the parade and participate during the party.

Class Parties: Class parties will take place right after the parade in the classroom and will last for roughly 30 minutes. If you are volunteering to help with a class party, you must check-in at the front office and get a visitor badge BEFORE the parade begins!

A Rolling Good Time!

We had a GREAT turnout for the glow party at Skate City last Thursday, with 284 skaters in attendance! Thank you to everyone who came out to have a fun time with us. And while this was a social event, it was also an opportunity to earn some cash for Sandburg. By having over 200+ guests, we earned $1,136 from Skate City ($4/skater in attendance) for our school. Way to go!!!

It's Almost Book Fair Time!

Mark your calendars, the Sandburg Book Fair is coming, November 6th - 9th. All purchases go toward buying new books for the library and it's a great way to get started on your holiday shopping list.
