Greetings Sandburg!

Teacher Appreciation Week is here!  It takes hard work, plus many dedicated and experienced people to make Sandburg what it is - we are so fortunate to have them all. A huge THANK YOU to all our Sandburg staff!! Let’s show them some love this week.

While each class has customized the week, the overall theme of "You Lift Us Up" can be found throughout the school.  Please see your room parent for details and don't forget about ALL the staff throughout the school. 

It's nearly the end of the school year, and that means Field Day is fast approaching!  Mark your calendars for the Lego Star Wars theme on 5/21, and sign-up to help have fun!

You can congratulate our 4th grade Math Olympiads on their 3rd place finish!  We are also celebrating the retirement of Mrs. Walter and Mrs. Petersen on Thursday 5/9 after school.  And join us for the last Out & About at Varsity Inn Thursday at 5pm.

One last big thank you for all of those who helped out at the Book Swap!  Over 2,300 books came in, and 1,536.5 were selected by students.  An additional 100+ Easy Readers were given to the Kindergarten classes, plus 700+ went to Children's Hospital.  Thank you Sandburg!

We hope this week will be a fun celebration of our Sandburg Staff! Let's celebrate all staff and remember, classroom sign-ups are NOT meant to deter anyone from doing fun and nice things for Specials Teachers, the LSS Team and Mental Health Team, our administration and front office, and EVERY other staff member that makes Sandburg special!  If your child is specially connected to someone, please celebrate them in any way you choose!

Week Day Themes: 

• Monday: Show your love! Students bring in a note/picture/card telling how the teacher/para lift them up!

• Wednesday: Color Day! We are never BLUE with a teacher like YOU! Kids will bring in blue items for their teacher/para.

• Friday: Favorites Day! Kids will bring in favorite items for their teacher/para.

• Tuesday and Thursday will also have themes, but look for communication from your room parent for your classroom specifics.

Varsity Inn Out & About Thursday! Join us for a fun night of pool, arcade games and food.  This will be our LAST Out & About for the year, so don't miss out.

DETAILS: Sandburg will get 20% of dine in food & soda sales! Make sure to mention that you are part of the Sandburg fundraiser.

*Field Day is also a great time to check out Lost and Found to claim items.  All leftover items will be donated on the last day of school.

On April 26th, our 4th and 5th grade Math Olympiad teams participated in the district wide competition at Newton Middle School. The Sandburg 4th grade team won 3rd place! Many congrats to all who spent the year participating in math club, and a big round of applause for Mrs. Florio and Mrs. Heimer for developing such talent. Huge thanks to Jill Kates for spending her day supporting the teams!
