A Note from the PTO President

Hello Sandburg Community,

On behalf of the PTO, welcome to the 2024/2025 school year; we are excited to be with you all!

We are Lindsey Blankenship and Jenn Bush, your 24/25’ PTO President and Vice President.

Jenn has (2) children that attend Sandburg, grades 1st and 3rd.  I also have (2) children that attend Sandburg, grades 2nd and 5th.

Who We Are and What is PTO?

Jenn and I are no different than you – we are parents.  Parents who want to see kids learn, discover, explore, have fun, be kind, and help their community.  We are parents who want to help our teachers and staff.  We are parents who want to help our community and friends.  We are parents who want to engage our community in a meaningful and purposeful way.

How do we plan to do this, you ask?  With a lot of communication, listening, transparency, planning, and support!

Who can be a Member of the PTO?

The PTO is made up of our Sandburg community – fathers, mothers, grandparents, teachers, administrators… essentially, anyone in our Sandburg community!

PTO Programs & Fundraising

Our primary objective as a PTO is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources, services, and events that will enrich and maximize the education of every child and to benefit the school. To meet this important objective, we fundraise. Here are a few programs that we sponsor and/or fundraise to support:

  • “Welcome Back Ice Cream Social” and “Kindergarten Kleenex and Coffee Meet and Greet”

  • Paraprofessional Staffing

  • IT/Technology Improvements

  • Book Fair to benefit the library resources

  • School Events/Gatherings (Class Parties, School Performances, Field Day)

  • Community Events/Gatherings (Community Nights, Family Fun Nights, Ninja Nation)

  • Fundraising Events/Gatherings (Out and About Nights, Teacher Raffle, Games Nights)

  • Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week

  • Sandburg Garden Revitalization Project

  • 5th Grade Continuation/Graduation Festivities

Get Up-to-Date!

Membership Toolkit is a helpful resource to learn about what is going on at Sandburg, current calendar events, how you can be involved, and even find directory information.  It is easy to update, often just selecting your teacher for the year.  Most importantly, it ensures you will receive important info like this newsletter, or room parent updates. Please take a moment to update here.
