We Need Books!

Sandburg PTO is excited to bring back the Book Swap and “refresh” our kids’ book selections before the start of summer!

What is the Book Swap?

It’s an opportunity to get students reading books they may not have yet! Essentially students bring in books (new, like new, or in good condition) to gain “credits” to “shop” for new/swapped books to start their summer reading lists!

Donate Books

Bring books you want to donate between now and Wednesday, April 24. Drop-off bins will be outside and inside the front lobby.

  • Please clearly mark the student name, grade, and teacher for your child to get “credit” to use when they shop. Ideally, place all books in a bag with label and label bag.

  • Please make sure all books are Elementary School appropriate and in good condition. Inappropriate material will be removed and donated.
  • Each book collected will count for (1) “credit” for that student to then “shop and swap” for another book.

  • “Easy Readers”, i.e. - I Can Read or Step Into Reading will be credited as ½ credit. These books can be swapped for another Easy Reader or students will need to donate (2) Easy Readers to earn credit for another 1 credit book swap.

  • Suggested Reading Books/Series: Owl Diaries, Magic Treehouse, Bad Guys, Dog Man, Dragon Masters/Dragon Girls, Who Was/Is Books, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Wings of Fire, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and more!

Get Books

Students will be able to "shop" for books using their credits starting Monday, April 29 through Friday, May 3. Books will be sorted by grade level.  We will have volunteers available to help students sort through the types of books (and also age appropriate) they are interested in.

Volunteers Needed to help us sort!

We need your help volunteering BEFORE the swap to help organize and sort all of the incoming books and have them ready for the kids to come "shop" the following week.
